“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?’ Isaiah 43:18
I don’t know about you, but I am ready for any new thing our great God wants to do. I strain my eyes over the horizon of this New Year to perceive exactly what new thing God is doing at GraceWorks. My prayer is that whatever happens, happens because we are on God’s agenda and not our own.
We certainly have many new things happening this year! In 2019, we execute and fully launch our new strategic plan. This month will be the first working meeting of our newly formed Program Committee where we analyze ways to make our services better and more applicable to the needs of our community.
As many of you know, One Generation Away has moved next door to us and we are looking forward to all the new ways God will allow us to address hunger together. We will certainly keep you posted on the new ways our close proximity facilitates us feeding more people together.
We will be hosting a GraceWorkers’ orientation meeting on February 18th, to recruit new volunteers to join us in greeting, vetting and serving our neighbors. I am excited to invite more members of our community to this important part of our ministry.
Also, in an effort to be one of the first fundraising events at the new Hilton in Cool Springs, we have booked this as the new location for the upcoming GraceWorks’ benefit dinner on April 4th.
There are also plans in the works to move the GraceWorks Golf Fore Challenge to a new location as well. More information will come!
I pray each step we take in these efforts is God directed.
I have a wish for God to do even more new things for GraceWorks – larger, more permanent and impactful things. For instance, I long for us to own our buildings in both Franklin and Fairview. I long for us to expand to other communities as well.
While we can make all the plans we want, I realize that only God knows all the other new things 2019 will hold. We submit all these new ideas, wishes and plans to Him in prayer. However, my forever prayer is that the one new thing God does is to shower the people who serve and who come to be served with new mercies and new grace. I pray this new grace be delivered straight from the hand of God and firmly rooted in our hearts that we might truly be that ministry that is sanctified and set apart for His glory alone.
I pray 2019 brings all the blessings to you that your heart can hold. Thank you for all you do for GraceWorks and for your continued partnership in the coming year.
I look forward to experiencing this New Year with you and together witnessing the new things that God unveils. According to His word it is springing forth even now; all we have to do is perceive it! Cast your eyes over the horizon too and join me in looking for it!
