GraceWorks is a genuine volunteer ministry. We engage lots of volunteers. Really that is an understatement. Because when I say lots, I mean lots! Last year alone we were blessed to have over 75,672 precious hours donated to us through the service of volunteers. Volunteers outnumber our staff 7 to 1.
So you can see why our volunteers are key partners of our ministry. Frankly it is the volunteers who truly allow us to offer all the services we are able to provide to our neighbors in need. In addition to allowing us to have multiple ministry programs, we calculate that currently volunteers are saving us nearly $2 million and thereby helping us to be financially efficient so that we can serve more neighbors with the contributions given to GraceWorks. In short our volunteers are incredible!
So it was with an extremely grateful heart that I say thank you to all reading this who have volunteered or are currently volunteering with us. You make a difference by putting hands and feet to the GraceWorks mission, bringing encouragement to our staff, and providing hope to those we serve.
We are moving into our heaviest volunteer season. Lots of willing hands and caring hearts are needed to help accomplish all of the outreach and fundraising events we host this time of year. The last quarter of the year is also when the generosity of our community is rallied around our mission as well. This is a special time when people offer many of their treasures to serve others for God’s glory.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for the first time, or adding to your volunteer service, we have many opportunities over the next few months.
On Thanksgiving Day, we will host the Turkey Trot, where we need volunteers to be greeters, to help with set-up, T-shirt and racer bib distribution, route directors, water station attendants and more. To sign up to volunteer at the Turkey Trot please click here.
In November and December we have Holiday Food Baskets given to low income families. For these events we need volunteers to help deliver baskets to our neighbors. To sign up to help with Holiday Food Boxes, please click here.
Then of course there is the Manger were we typically need 150 volunteers per session to be personal shoppers, greeters and prayer partners. We also need people to stock Christmas gifts, gift wrap presents, organize merchandise, provide Christmas snacks for our volunteer hospitality room, and more! To volunteer in Franklin, please click here, or in Fairview, click here.
There is always a need for ongoing volunteers who are willing to commit to us to on a regular basis to help with day-to-day work in the Food Pantry, in our donations sorting area, in the retail store and of course do the serious work in Neighbor Services of directly serving our neighbors who come in. All volunteer in-house volunteer opportunities are needed in both Franklin and Fairview.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Erin Saurers, Volunteer Relations Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Whether you support GraceWorks through volunteerism or whether you offer financial or prayer support, or if you are one of those Super Volunteers who do all three, your support makes our mission of Neighbor serving Neighbor a reality.
Thank you for your partnership with GraceWorks. We could not do this crucial work without you.
